Pohang City Expands Free Flu Vaccinations to Those Aged 50 and Over
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Pohang City announced on the 13th that the Nam-gu and Buk-gu Public Health Centers have expanded free influenza vaccinations to residents aged 50 and over since the 7th.
Residents registered with an address in Pohang City can visit designated medical institutions listed on the public health center's website until the end of December.
This vaccination is being carried out at 172 medical institutions within the city. Pohang City originally planned to provide free support only for those aged 60-61 using its own budget, but due to the continuous occurrence of COVID-19 cases, it urgently expanded the program to include those aged 50-59.
Influenza symptoms such as fever and cough are difficult to distinguish from those of COVID-19. Considering the flu season (December to April of the following year) and the duration of vaccine effectiveness (an average of 6 months), those who have not been vaccinated should receive the vaccine by December.
