Employment and Industrial Accident Insurance Certificates and Passport Fact Certificates Can Also Be Issued at Unmanned Civil Service Kiosks
Ministry of the Interior and Safety Offers Free Issuance of 16 Types of Employment and Industrial Accident Insurance and 6 Types of Passport Verification Certificates
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] From now on, certificates related to employment and industrial accident insurance, as well as passport fact verification certificates, can be issued free of charge at unmanned civil service kiosks nationwide.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 13th that, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Korea Workers' Compensation and Welfare Service, and the Korea Local Information Research & Development Institute, it will newly provide unmanned issuance services for 16 types of certificates related to employment and industrial accident insurance and 6 types of passport fact verification certificates.
Certificates related to employment and industrial accident insurance can be issued via unmanned kiosks starting from the 14th. Employment and industrial accident insurance, included in the four major insurances along with national pension and health insurance, sees nearly 5 million certificate issuances annually.
Currently, these certificates can be issued online through the Employment and Industrial Accident Insurance Total Service and the Government24 website, but visits to the Korea Workers' Compensation and Welfare Service account for 33% of total issuances. From the 14th, there will be no need to visit distant offices; certificates can be issued simply by using fingerprint recognition and other easy identity verification methods at unmanned civil service kiosks installed in nearby eup/myeon/dong community service centers.
Six types of passport fact verification certificates, including passport information certificates, will be available via unmanned kiosks starting from the 21st. Since passports issued from the 21st onward will not display the resident registration number's last digits, a passport information certificate is required to use the passport as an identification card.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety plans to provide services allowing the issuance of six types of passport fact verification certificates, including passport information certificates, which are currently available at passport civil service offices in 17 metropolitan cities and provinces and 226 cities, counties, and districts, at unmanned civil service kiosks nationwide.
Meanwhile, there are currently 4,450 unmanned civil service kiosks installed nationwide, including at nearby eup/myeon/dong community service centers, railway stations, and terminals. With the addition of these 22 types of services, the total number of certificates that can be issued at unmanned civil service kiosks will increase to 112.
