16 Additional COVID-19 Cases from Yeongsin Church in Daegu and Gyeongsan... Total 47 Cases
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] The number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) originating from Yeongsin Church in Dalseong-gun, Daegu, has increased to 47.
As of midnight on the 13th, Daegu City reported 12 additional confirmed cases, including 10 visitors to Yeongsin Church and 2 people who had contact with church members.
One confirmed case previously classified as a Yeongsin Church member was reclassified due to an unknown infection route. Additionally, a family of four residing in the Gyeongsan area who had contact with Yeongsin Church members were newly confirmed positive.
Therefore, the total number of confirmed cases related to this church reached 47, including 3 on the 11th and 28 on the 12th.
According to health authorities, church members violated quarantine guidelines by holding meal gatherings and praise practice sessions without wearing masks earlier this month.
In Daegu, aside from the Yeongsin Church-related cases, 16 new confirmed cases were reported, bringing the cumulative total to 7,349 as of midnight.
Among these, two residents of Pohang and one resident of Gyeongsan have unknown infection routes, and health authorities are conducting epidemiological investigations.
Additionally, nine are contacts of previously confirmed cases, and the remaining three are contacts of confirmed cases from the metropolitan area.
