'Arrest Warrant for Iron in Baseball Bat Assault Rejected...Court Says "No Risk of Evidence Tampering or Flight"'
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Rapper Iron (real name Jung Heon-cheol, 28), who is accused of assaulting a teenage boy who was learning music from him with a baseball bat, has avoided detention.
On the 11th, Kwon Kyung-sun, the judge in charge of warrants at the Seoul Western District Court, held a pre-arrest detention hearing for Iron, who is charged with special injury, and dismissed the warrant, stating, "He has a fixed residence and there is no concern of evidence tampering or flight."
Earlier, on the afternoon of the 9th, Iron was caught in the act at his home in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, for allegedly forcing A (18) to lie face down and hitting him dozens of times with a baseball bat.
Iron is a rapper who was the runner-up on Mnet's Show Me the Money Season 3, and A is known to have lived with Iron while learning music from him. Iron did not respond to any questions from reporters about admitting the charges before and after attending the warrant hearing that morning.
Iron was previously convicted in November 2018 on charges of assault and other offenses for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend for not complying with his demands during sexual intercourse, receiving an 8-month prison sentence with a 2-year probation and 80 hours of community service in the appellate court.
