Hanwha Classic 2020, A Baroque Music Feast in Your Living Room
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] The classical concert hosted by Hanwha Group, 'Hanwha Classic 2020: Soprano Lim Sun-hye and the Baroque Project,' will be held as an online performance.
Hanwha Group announced on the 10th that, in accordance with the government's phased 'social distancing' policy, the Hanwha Classic concerts originally scheduled for the 12th (Saturday) and 16th (Wednesday) at the Seoul Arts Center Concert Hall will be held only as non-face-to-face online concerts.
Although it is unfortunate not to experience the long-awaited performance in the theater, viewers can closely enjoy the vivid expressions of the performers and the warm tones of Baroque instruments through various camera angles. With Hanwha Classic 2020 transitioning to an untact concert, paid tickets will be canceled and fully refunded without any fees.
To watch the online concert, simply search for 'Hanwha Classic' in the Naver search bar. By accessing the 'Hanwha Classic 2020' website (classic.hanwha.co.kr) and clicking on the 'Watch Live Performance' window, you will be directly connected to the live streaming link.
On the ‘Hanwha Classic 2020’ website, you can find detailed introductions of the performers and programs, as well as videos where the performers personally introduce the concerts. In particular, for the 'Wedding Cantata' on the 12th and the opera performance on the 16th, you can view the original lyrics alongside Korean translations for reference. The pre-concert commentary (by Professor Jung Kyung-young of Hanyang University’s Composition Department), which has been held annually, will also continue as usual.
Hanwha Classic, which has continued wonderful projects with world-renowned early music masters, is conducting a meaningful project this year with world-class early music star performers from Korea amid the spread of COVID-19. The ensemble named ‘Hanwha Baroque Project’ is composed of Baroque specialists including soprano Lim Sun-hye, conductor Kwon Min-seok, Baroque violinist Kim Na-yeon, and recorder player Jung Yoon-tae, all of whom have shown outstanding performances on the global stage.
On the 12th (5 PM), under the theme ‘Falling in Love with Bach,’ the concert will feature Bach’s Orchestral Suite No. 2 in B minor BWV1067, Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 in G major BWV1049, and the ‘Disappear Now, Shadows of Sorrow’ (Wedding Cantata) BWV202, with a collaboration by Lim Sun-hye.
