KCCI Unveils '200-Day Journey of the Private Sandbox'
[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced on the 10th that a documentary capturing the "200-day journey of the private sandbox" will be aired on the KBS documentary program on the 11th.
The private sandbox was launched last May to grant regulatory exemptions under certain conditions, allowing companies to try new initiatives. The documentary, titled "The Golden Time of Innovation, Sandbox is the Answer," vividly conveys the process through which young CEOs, previously blocked by outdated laws and systems, were able to come into the spotlight through the sandbox.
In particular, it introduces the ‘Miracle Road’ wireless power transmission pad, developed by KAIST campus venture WiPowerOne, which charges electric buses while they are running. Although this technology was selected as one of the world’s top 50 inventions 10 years ago, the dream bus could not run domestically due to the lack of “appropriate frequency” and “safety standards.”
ZeroGround’s ‘Shared Beauty Salon’ also faces legal issues under current regulations, as multiple businesses cannot be registered in the same space and using shared facilities like shampoo rooms is illegal. It pointed out the problem that new business ideas cannot be implemented because laws established during the high-growth era do not cover these new types of businesses.
