Seoul National University Hospital Operates Residential Treatment Center with 340 Beds
Dispatch of 20 Medical Staff Including Doctors and Nurses
[Asia Economy Reporter Seo So-jeong] Seoul National University Hospital (Director Kim Yeon-su) announced on the 9th that it has opened a residential treatment center at the Saemaeul Undong Central Training Institute in Seongnam City to isolate and treat mild and asymptomatic patients of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
The Seongnam Residential Treatment Center consists of a total of 340 beds, and patient admissions began on the evening of the 8th. Seoul National University Hospital dispatched about 20 personnel, including doctors, nurses, radiologists, and administrative staff.
The medical staff will conduct daily consultations via video calls and monitor patients' conditions. If necessary, they will receive support from infectious disease, radiology, and mental health departments in coordination with the main hospital of Seoul National University Hospital. The hospital explained that it has established a medical system tailored to the characteristics of patient care flow, including medical interviews, tests, and emergency transfer systems.
Seoul National University Hospital has experience utilizing the training institute in Mungyeong as a residential treatment center when a large number of patients occurred in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions last March. Since then, it has become a model for infectious disease treatment and has spread nationwide.

Kim Kyung-nam, head of the Medical Support Group (Public Medical Center), said, "Seoul National University Hospital is making every effort to safely isolate and treat patients while minimizing the spread of infectious diseases at the residential treatment centers in Mungyeong, Nowon, and now Seongnam," adding, "The medical staff will do their best to ensure there is no medical vacuum in the metropolitan area."
