Gwangju Office of Education Announces First Round Passers of 2021 Public School Teacher Appointment Exam
"COVID-19 Positive Among First Round Passers Unable to Attend Second Exam"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] The Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 9th the results of the first round of the 2021 Gwangju Metropolitan City public kindergarten, elementary school, and special school (kindergarten and elementary) teacher candidate selection competitive exam, as well as the implementation plan for the second round of the exam.
Whether candidates passed the first round and their scores can be checked by the examinees themselves on the NEIS (National Education Information System) online recruitment system from 10 a.m. on the day until the 13th.
The number of first-round successful candidates, which is 1.5 times the planned number of recruits, totaled 401 examinees, with 27 passing for kindergarten, 15 for elementary school, 6 for special school (kindergarten), and 23 for special school (elementary).
The Office of Education plans to finally select a total of 51 candidates among them: 19 for kindergarten, 11 for elementary school, 4 for special school (kindergarten), and 17 for special school (elementary).
The second round of the exam will be conducted over three days from January 13 to 15 next year, targeting those who passed the first round.
On the first day, there will be an in-depth interview on teaching aptitude; on the second day, a teaching demonstration and teaching interview; and on the last day, only for elementary school teachers, an English teaching demonstration and English interview will be held.

Jo Mi-kyung, General Affairs Director of the Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education, stated, “Those confirmed with COVID-19 cannot take the second round of the exam, just as in the first round,” and added, “We hope that examinees strictly follow quarantine rules in daily life so that no one suffers disadvantages on the exam day.”
