View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] Choi Ye-yong, Vice Chairman of the Special Investigation Commission on Social Disasters (Sacheomwi), resigned in protest against the amendment to the Special Act on Social Disasters (Sacheomwi Act) passed by the National Assembly's Political Affairs Committee, which excludes the investigation of the humidifier disinfectant disaster from the commission's duties.
At a press conference held on the 9th at Post Tower in Jung-gu, Seoul, to announce the investigation results on the "Oxy Reckitt Benckiser (RB) and Kim & Chang's suspicions of covering up and minimizing the humidifier disinfectant disaster," Vice Chairman Choi said, "Should the investigation into the humidifier disinfectant disaster be stopped?" and added, "I want to express my intention to resign in protest."

Earlier, the agenda adjustment committee of the National Assembly's Political Affairs Committee amended the Sacheomwi Act revision bill, originally proposed by Democratic Party lawmaker Park Joo-min, to limit the commission's duties regarding the humidifier disinfectant incident to "victim relief, system improvement, and preparation of a comprehensive report as prescribed by presidential decree." The amended bill passed the full Political Affairs Committee meeting around midnight the previous day.
