FSS Provides Guidance on Using Disclosure Information for General Investors
[Asia Economy Reporter Minji Lee] The Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) announced on the 9th that it will provide "How to Use Disclosure Information for General Investors" to ensure rational investment decisions as the participation of general investors in the stock market is significantly expanding.
The FSS stated, "General investors can obtain various disclosure information necessary for investment decisions, such as financial and non-financial information, through the FSS's DART system, but due to the diversity of disclosure information, it is difficult to know where and how to find it," adding, "They are relying on unverified information from internet cafes and stock leading chat rooms."
Accordingly, the FSS decided to provide a video series focusing on business reports that explains essential sections to read and how to find information easily.
The FSS will offer a total of six topics through brief videos of about 10 minutes each, released sequentially. These include one topic on disclosure documents and DART guidance, and five topics on corporate information necessary for investment decisions within regular reports (company introduction, basic concepts of financial information, contingent liabilities and CB·BW, management control, MD&A·corporate organization).
In the company introduction section, explanations include credit ratings of the investment target company helpful for judging the sustainability of the business, major history, and financial and non-financial information about the business. In the financial section, it explains the basic concepts of financial statements for confirming financial stability, the importance of contingent liabilities, the status of outstanding convertible bonds (CB) and bonds with warrants (BW), and risks of management control changes due to stock value dilution.
