Illegal Parking CCTV at the Back Gate of Yangdong Elementary School in Seo-gu, Gwangju, Has Recorded No Violations for One Year
Seon Seung-il, Seo-gu Councilor, "Immediate Crackdown Needed"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeon Seung-il, a member of the Gwangju Metropolitan City Seo-gu Council, pointed out that the no-parking CCTV installed at the back gate of Yangdong Elementary School has not recorded a single violation for over a year.
During a recent administrative audit, Councilor Jeon stated, "The illegal parking enforcement CCTV installed near the back gate of Yangdong Elementary School was set up in early December 2019," and added, "However, it has been confirmed that there were zero enforcement cases recorded by this CCTV device over the past year."
He continued, "The school zone is a designated area for the safety of children, so having zero enforcement cases for an entire year is a significant administrative issue."
He further asserted, "It has been confirmed that there will be a guidance period for no parking during this month, and enforcement will begin from January next year. Instead of fixing the barn after losing the cow, enforcement should start immediately with about a five-day guidance period followed by intensive crackdowns."
