Kim San, Muan County Governor, Visits National Assembly Multiple Times to Secure 210.5 Billion Won in National and Provincial Funds for Next Year
Progress Accelerates on Local Priority Projects Including Shinan and Muan Tando Bay Mudflat Restoration

View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] Muan County, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim San) announced on the 8th that with the government budget passing the National Assembly plenary session on the 2nd, securing 210.5 billion KRW in national and provincial subsidies, the promotion of local pending projects will gain momentum.
So far, Governor Kim San has personally visited central government departments several times to request national funding support, and met with local members of the National Assembly to explain the validity of projects to ensure that major pending projects are not excluded during the National Assembly review process.
Additionally, through policy development and reporting meetings, government-supported projects have been continuously discovered and proposed to higher authorities.
Major new projects reflected in next year’s government budget include the construction of a Veterans Memorial Tower (150 million KRW), the (former) Muan High School cultural regeneration project (200 million KRW), expansion of the Muan food waste public treatment facility (288 million KRW), improvement of the Hyeongyeong natural disaster risk area (675 million KRW), creation of a fine dust blocking forest in the Namak New Town living area (1 billion KRW), and the restoration project of tidal flats in Tando Bay, Sinan and Muan (2.8 billion KRW).
Also, the family center construction project, a living SOC complex project (600 million KRW), and selected public contest projects such as the new and renewable energy convergence support project (2.044 billion KRW), and the octopus spawning and habitat creation project (400 million KRW) were included. Major new projects under the balanced national and provincial subsidy include the Haeje Doripo tourist attraction project (200 million KRW), support for Kim’s land-based seedling and frozen net facilities (1 billion KRW), and the creation of a public parking lot for freight trucks (500 million KRW).
Furthermore, ongoing projects such as the Muan-eup urban regeneration New Deal project (2.465 billion KRW), the Fishing Village New Deal 300 project (14.042 billion KRW), coastal maintenance project (4.249 billion KRW), rural new vitality plus project (1.47 billion KRW), and village sewage maintenance project (5.188 billion KRW) have been reflected, enabling accelerated promotion of pending projects.
Governor Kim San said, “Securing national budget is urgently needed to foster regional strategic industries and revitalize the economy,” adding, “To overcome the limitations of poor local finances and secure growth engines for the regional economy, we will actively engage in government budget securing activities next year.”

Meanwhile, Muan County plans to proactively respond to securing the 2022 national budget by holding a national budget proposal project reporting meeting in December this year, and will carry out preliminary procedures such as prior feasibility studies and investment reviews for local pending projects to ensure no setbacks in government budget securing activities.
