Kim Jong-in: "Ruling Party's Forced Passage of Corruption Investigation Office Is Outrageous... Routine State Manipulation Occurs"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hye-min] Kim Jong-in, Emergency Committee Chairman of the People Power Party, criticized the Democratic Party of Korea on the 8th for abolishing the opposition's veto power through the sole passage of the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Office (HCIO) Act, calling it "an outrageous anti-democratic behavior by the ruling power."
Chairman Kim held an emergency press conference in the afternoon and said, "I cannot help but ask what is truly different about the Moon Jae-in administration compared to previous governments."
He raised his voice, saying, "Without even implementing the system once, they abolished the opposition's veto power to appoint an HCIO chief that suits the regime's taste. Seeing how obsessed they are with ousting the Prosecutor General who investigates the living power, it is obvious what the ruling power intends to do by controlling the HCIO."
He pointed out, "We are now witnessing clearly how the elected power is undermining the constitutional spirit of the separation of powers and monopolizing authority. The fact that the people gave the Democratic Party nearly 180 seats in the last general election does not mean they gave a blank check for legislative dictatorship by the ruling party."
Chairman Kim added, "The behavior of the Moon administration goes beyond merely repeating the failures of past governments; it is routinely committing state mismanagement. Can't the Democratic Party and the ruling power hear the public outcry crushed by COVID-19 and the real estate crisis?"
