This Year's Top Twitter Keyword 'Corona19'... BTS, Most Mentioned Account
[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] The most mentioned hashtag worldwide this year was the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
Twitter released the results of its analysis of tweets and accounts from users around the world on the 8th. The analysis period was from January 1 to November 15.
'COVID-19 (#covid19, #coronavirus)' was tweeted a total of 400 million times, including similar hashtags. The anti-racism movement 'Black Lives Matter (#blacklivesmatter)' ranked second, and 'Stay Home (#stayhome)', meaning staying at home due to reduced outings caused by COVID-19, ranked third.
In South Korea as well, 'COVID-19' topped the list of most mentioned keywords in the social sector. During the aggregation period, the number of mentions of the single keyword COVID-19 reached 7 million. COVID-19 related keywords such as self-quarantine (3rd), social distancing (4th), disaster relief funds (7th), and Sarang Jeil Church (9th) were among the top 10 social sector keywords.
The 'Nth Room' case, which sparked nationwide outrage, ranked second in social sector keywords. During the data analysis period, the number of mentions of Nth Room was 4.8 million.
Other keywords included 'feminism' at 5th, 'Sewol Ferry' at 6th, and 'abortion law' at 10th.
The most mentioned politician in South Korea was President Moon Jae-in, followed by Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae, Democratic Party leader Lee Nak-yeon, Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-youl, and Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha.
U.S. President Donald Trump ranked 6th.
The top 'figure of interest' was Grandma Lee Yong-soo, who raised allegations of accounting fraud against the comfort women victim support organization 'Justice Memory Solidarity'. Following her were former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk's wife Professor Jung Kyung-shim and Pastor Jeon Kwang-hoon of Sarang Jeil Church.
BTS has been the 'most mentioned account' for four consecutive years since 2017. They also topped the rankings for 'most mentioned K-pop account' and 'most mentioned musician account' this year.
Based on keyword mention volume, BTS was also ranked first among the 'Top 10 musicians worldwide'. Among domestic singers, Blackpink ranked 7th.
