Hong Jun-pyo: "Kim Jong-in's Apology Does Not Make Sense... His Talk of Resigning Is Also Frivolous"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Hong Joon-pyo, former leader of the Liberty Korea Party, opposed Kim Jong-in, the Emergency Committee Chairman of the People Power Party, stating that "apology is a path of submission" in response to Kim's announcement to apologize for the prison sentences of former Presidents Lee Myung-bak and Park Geun-hye.
On the 8th, former leader Hong wrote on Facebook, "Chairman Kim was seated among the Democratic Party members during the impeachment, and Floor Leader Joo Ho-young supported the impeachment and left the party to join the Bareun Party. Therefore, for these two to come into our party and apologize on behalf of the victims as joint perpetrators of the impeachment is neither common sense nor politically proper," expressing his stance.
Former leader Hong raised his voice, saying, "During the 1980 National Security Planning Agency era, DJ received a death sentence and endured the humiliation of Hanshin to make a comeback, and YS escaped the oppression of the new military regime through a 23-day life-threatening hunger strike. We should tackle the issues of the two former presidents in the YS style, not by choosing the path of submission like DJ, which will only cause another secondary controversy."

He questioned, "(An apology) would not only eliminate attack materials for the presidential election but also serve as an act of treason that legitimizes the Democratic Party's return to power," adding, "Saying you will resign is too lighthearted. During the Park Geun-hye Emergency Committee, wasn't it common to stir up resignation controversies repeatedly?"
