SK Transfers 271 Technologies Free of Charge to Materials and Components Companies
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] SK Group will transfer its proprietary technology free of charge to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the semiconductor materials and components sector.
The Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT) announced on the 8th that it has publicized the 'Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy-SK Technology Sharing' initiative.
On the 25th of last month, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, KIAT, and SK officially launched the 'Technology Sharing Agreement for Co-growth between Large and Small-Medium Enterprises' project.
The Supex Council, SK Group's control tower, will lead the technology sharing efforts at the group level.
Five SK affiliates?SK Hynix, SK Telecom, SK Innovation, SK Planet, and SK Siltron?will participate, providing 271 related technologies in semiconductors, mobile communications, chemicals, and compositions.
Notably, 111 of these technologies are semiconductor-related and available for use by companies in the materials and components sector, making it the largest category.
Companies wishing to receive technology transfers can apply by submitting a patent utilization plan via email by the 11th of next month.
KIAT plans to select recipient companies based on their core technological capabilities such as R&D personnel and intellectual property rights, the linkage plan with the technology held, and their business plans and commercialization capabilities.

KIAT President Seok Young-cheol stated, "The COVID-19 pandemic has created a difficult situation where corporate innovation momentum may be impacted due to reduced R&D investment."
President Seok added, "We hope that through technology sharing and cooperation between large and small-medium enterprises, companies will secure future growth engines."
