According to the Jeju Coast Guard, at around 7:19 a.m. that day, a resident taking a walk at the eastern end of Iho Beach in Jeju City found a deceased person with their face buried in the sand and reported it, prompting the Jeju Coast Guard's criminal investigation unit and local police officers to rush to the scene.
The deceased, identified as Mr. A, was a Jeju Island resident in his early 30s, wearing a black padded jacket, jeans, white sneakers with socks, and carrying a crossbody bag with a brown leather belt. It was confirmed that he did not have any identification on him.

The Jeju Coast Guard's criminal investigation unit stated that they will verify the identity of the deceased, review nearby CCTV footage, and investigate the circumstances of the incident by interviewing the deceased's family and others around, as well as conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
