This award, hosted by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, is given to individuals and institutions recognized for their significant contributions to cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease prevention and management projects nationwide. Additionally, they are promoting various projects to improve residents' health, such as ▲ operating the Dobong Health Management Center ▲ establishing a tight safety net through customized visiting health care ▲ creating healthy villages through resident and senior participation.
In particular, as a Dobong-gu specialized project, they operate small public health centers called ‘Geongang Ieumteo’ within 14 community service centers to increase access to health care, providing health measurements, health consultations, education, and linkage services close to residents, striving for the prevention and management of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases among local residents.
Through this systematic management, residents' self-management abilities have improved, resulting in a hypertension treatment rate of 95.6% and a diabetes treatment rate of 93% in Dobong-gu, which are 5.1% and 1.1% higher than those of Seoul, respectively, receiving favorable evaluations.
