The OnDream Character Education Teacher Training began in 2014 and has involved over 7,600 teachers over the past seven years. Participating teachers engage in play from the students' perspective, discovering the implicit social skills within the process. The teachers then apply what they learned during the training to their classes. According to a sample survey conducted by the foundation on a total of 7,444 students, social skills such as self-disclosure, communication, and trust among students who participated in the program significantly improved compared to before their participation.
The foundation prioritized regions with limited training opportunities and conducted a total of 124 mobile training sessions. Even after the training, capable teachers were identified and supported through consulting and case-sharing. This event was organized to share the achievements and significance of the OnDream Character Education Teacher Training over the past seven years.
The keynote lecture was delivered by Jeon Guk-jae, the chief instructor and director of the National Youth and Play Culture Research Institute, titled "How to Conduct Character Education in the COVID-19 Era." It included presentations of excellent practical cases in areas such as classroom management, counseling, and educational welfare, followed by a comprehensive expert discussion. Director Jeon emphasized, “We must realize character education that includes play and community, which allows sincere relationships with others, warning about the risks that the acceleration of relationship disconnection experienced by youth due to COVID-19 will bring to our society.”
