Suspected Report of Highly Pathogenic AI at Gyeonggi Farm... Under Detailed Inspection
[Asia Economy Reporter Seong Gi-ho] Authorities are responding after a suspected case of highly pathogenic avian influenza (AI) was reported at a laying hen farm in Yeoju, Gyeonggi Province.
The Central Avian Influenza Countermeasures Headquarters announced on the 6th that a report of highly pathogenic AI was received from a laying hen farm in Yeoju.
The farm raises approximately 193,000 laying hens. Due to an increase in livestock deaths, a suspicion report was filed, and a rapid test conducted by the Gyeonggi Provincial Animal Hygiene Laboratory confirmed a positive result.
Currently, a detailed test is underway to confirm whether it is highly pathogenic, with results expected within 1 to 3 days.

The headquarters immediately dispatched an initial response team to the site to control access to the farm, carry out preventive culling, conduct an epidemiological investigation, and impose movement restrictions, surveillance, and detailed testing on farms within a 10 km radius.
