District Mayor Kim Seon-gap Urges Active Guidance and Inspection of Facilities Related to Seoul Emergency Measures... Analysis of COVID-19 Case Types and Infection Causes in Gwangjin-gu
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Seon-gap) held a countermeasure meeting on the 4th in response to Seoul City's announcement of the 'Emergency Stop for 10 Million Citizens' emergency measures.
On the 4th, Seoul City announced through an online emergency briefing that from the 5th, for two weeks, enhanced emergency measures will be implemented at Level 2.
Accordingly, Kim Seon-gap, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, held an emergency countermeasure meeting with executives and urged active guidance and inspection of high-risk facilities such as entertainment bars, indoor sports facilities, and singing practice rooms.
Mayor Kim said, "The number of new confirmed cases has reached the 600s, indicating that the spread of infection is serious," and added, "Along with guidance for related facilities, thorough inspections are inevitable, so promptly implement countermeasure plans by sector."
He also analyzed the recent types and causes of COVID-19 cases in Gwangjin-gu and instructed related departments to actively collaborate to prepare effective countermeasures based on accurate analysis.
Finally, he instructed to review whether to hold various resident events according to their purpose and nature, and to consider holding events online or canceling or postponing events where large numbers of people gather.
Kim Seon-gap, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, "COVID-19 infection occurs the moment we let our guard down, and it is not just my problem," adding, "Currently, without a vaccine, social distancing and wearing masks are the best preventive measures and the only way to protect the precious people around us."
He continued, "Since the current COVID-19 spread situation is serious and critical, I ask for active participation in the 'Emergency Stop for 10 Million Citizens' emergency measures announced by Seoul City."
Gwangjin-gu currently maintains the lowest number of confirmed cases relative to its population among Seoul's autonomous districts. In particular, before the Shincheonji group infection occurred, the risk of group infections in religious facilities gathering indoors was predicted, and through consultations with religious leaders, temperature checks, hand sanitization, and mask-wearing during religious ceremonies were promoted, supporting mask distribution and quarantine activities.
