3-Year Term for the President of the Life Insurance Association
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Hyung-gil] Jung Hee-soo, the new chairman of the Life Insurance Association, will begin his three-year term starting from the 9th.
On the 4th, the Life Insurance Association held a general meeting attended by CEOs of the life insurance industry, and unanimously appointed Jung, the head of the Insurance Training Institute, who was the sole candidate recommended by the Chairman Candidate Recommendation Committee, as the 35th chairman of the Life Insurance Association.
Jung, born in 1953, graduated from Daegu Commercial High School and Sungkyunkwan University, and earned a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Illinois Graduate School. He worked at Daewoo Economic Research Institute and POSCO Management Research Institute before entering politics in 2008 as the former chairman of the Gyeongsangbuk-do branch of the Grand National Party.

He was elected as a member of the National Assembly for Yeongcheon, Gyeongbuk, in the 17th to 19th sessions, and served as the chairman of the National Assembly's Planning and Finance Committee during the 19th session. Once known as part of the 'Pro-Park faction,' he joined Moon Jae-in's campaign in the 2017 presidential election and served as the vice chairman of the Advisory Committee for the Integrated Government Promotion Committee. Since 2018, he has been serving as the 17th head of the Insurance Training Institute.
