"Gwanak-gu's 'Saessakmaeul' Residential Environment to Improve Amid Dense Low-Rise Aging Housing"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] The residential environment of 'Saessak Village' in Gwanak-gu, Seoul, where low-rise old houses are densely packed, will be improved.
On the 3rd, Seoul City announced that at the 16th Urban Planning Committee meeting, the designation of the maintenance area and the decision on the maintenance plan (draft) for the Saessak Village managed residential environment improvement project in Jungang-dong, Gwanak-gu, were approved as originally proposed.
The designated area, located around 886 Jungang-dong, Gwanak-gu, is a low-rise old housing dense area with many deteriorated and poor-quality houses. It is a region lacking safety infrastructure, requiring maintenance and expansion of infrastructure as well as housing improvement.

Seoul City stated that with this decision, the project for managed residential environment improvement is expected to be fully launched. According to the maintenance plan (draft), the project will improve the village environment through infrastructure maintenance such as installation of safety facilities and improvement of main streets, and promote community revitalization by creating shared facilities for residents, reflecting the unique characteristics of Saessak Village.
