Shinan-gun Presents Blueprint for Realizing a Global "Gourmet City"
‘Island of the Art of Taste’ Research Project Final Report Meeting Held

View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] On the 1st, Jeonnam Sinan-gun announced that on the 26th of last month, it held the final report meeting for the ‘1004 Island Taste Art Island Master Plan Research Project’ at the 1004 Conference Room on the 3rd floor of Sinan-gun Health Center, attended by County Governor Park Woo-ryang, the deputy governor, heads of departments, and researchers.
The research was led by Professor Kang Sung-guk of the Department of Food Engineering at Mokpo National University, with participation from Professor Kang Hyung-gi of Chungbuk National University, Director Park Jong-sook of Shinsegae Korean Food Research Institute, and CEO Kim Tae-hyun of NobleGen. Starting with the kickoff meeting in February, they reviewed the 10-month research process until November and shared the final research outcomes. Through this, they presented a blueprint for realizing a world-class gourmet city by establishing the ‘Taste Art Island.’
At the final report meeting, topics included the basic direction of Sinan-gun as an ecological gourmet city, Sinan-gun’s pursuit as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, the practice of local production for local consumption and fostering food culture professionals, utilization plans for Sinan’s local food, and promotion and events for the gourmet city Sinan.
Professor Kang Hyung-gi of Chungbuk National University said, “There is no place as rich in seasonal and monthly ingredients as Sinan-gun, so I hope to showcase four-season cuisine by making good use of these. Through food culture education, I hope to cultivate experts and raise the gourmet level of Sinan residents.”
Director Park Jong-sook of Shinsegae Korean Food Research Institute said, “I hope to investigate the nostalgic foods of Sinan-gun natives and discover local dishes that can be developed through this,” and CEO Kim Tae-hyun of NobleGen emphasized, “We must implement ‘low-carbon agriculture’ and the ‘Clear Sea Project’ to enhance the image of purity and lead the Green New Deal.”

Sinan County Governor Park Woo-ryang stated, “This research project, which uses Sinan’s ingredients produced in a clean environment with abundant four-season agricultural and marine products that also boost immunity, should not end with the final report but become a continuous foundation for development into the Taste Art Island. We will promote the project while building a foundation of communication and cooperation to realize the goals of the Taste Art Island.”
