People Power Party Submits Disciplinary Proposal Against Yoon Ho-jung, Chairman of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee: "Remarks Crossed the Line"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hye-min] On the 30th, the People Power Party submitted a disciplinary proposal against Yoon Ho-jung of the Democratic Party, who is the chairman of the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee. The reason was that Yoon allegedly insulted the aides of Rep. Kim Do-eup during conflicts with the People Power Party.
Jeong Hee-yong, the deputy floor leader of the People Power Party, officially submitted the disciplinary proposal to the National Assembly's legislative affairs office in the afternoon. A total of 21 lawmakers participated in the proposal.
The People Power Party took issue with Yoon's remarks at a press conference on the 26th. At the time, Yoon criticized the People Power Party's demand to summon Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae and Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-youl to the National Assembly, saying, "I want to tell the staff assisting Secretary Kim Do-eup to properly support the secretary. I think we should introduce a qualification exam system for legislative aides like the one in the U.S. Congress," and "I officially request the floor leader of the People Power Party to temporarily replace Secretary Kim Do-eup." He also said to Rep. Jo Soo-jin, "That person shows his habits when making 'Jirasi' (rumor sheets)."
In response, the People Power Party pointed out, "There were personal defamation remarks against Rep. Kim and his aides, along with excessive and unauthorized demands to the floor leader of the People Power Party."

They added, "It is the fundamental duty of a lawmaker to request an urgent inquiry session to verify facts and point out issues regarding the Minister of Justice and the Prosecutor General, and this should never be criticized. However, Rep. Yoon blocked the summons requests for them and severely damaged the honor and dignity of the National Assembly with inappropriate remarks. His actions raise doubts about his qualifications and ethical awareness as a lawmaker."
