Jeonnam Provincial Council Education Committee Revises and Approves the Provincial Office of Education's 3rd Supplementary Budget Proposal
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] The Education Committee of the Jeonnam Provincial Council announced on the 30th that it approved the budget adjustment amendments for the 3rd supplementary budget of 2020 and the main budget for 2021, which were conducted from the 26th to the 27th.
The Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education submitted a budget proposal for the next year amounting to 3.6463 trillion won, which is 227 billion won less than this year, due to the domestic and international economic downturn caused by COVID-19.
The Education Committee, after holding a budget coefficient adjustment subcommittee meeting, reduced 2.63519 billion won from eight projects considered unnecessary, including personnel expenses for educational public officials and the operation of school sports clubs. Additionally, it approved an increase of 2.3653 billion won for seven projects essential for teaching and learning expenses, such as support for the operation of the high school credit system and literacy and numeracy camps for basic academic skills.

The budget proposal preliminarily reviewed by the Education Committee on this day will be finalized through the Budget and Accounts Special Committee reviews on the 11th and 14th of next month, followed by final approval at the plenary session on the 16th.
