The university’s team “Advertising is the Future” (4th-year students Cha Sang-min and Hwang In-bo) competed against 17 teams selected through document screening and preliminary presentations from six regional competitions, achieving a final 3rd place.
The team designed an abandoned shipyard factory in Yeongdo-gu, Busan, as the venue for an extreme sports event. They planned “Come Back to Yeongdo Port” as an urban regeneration strategy proposal, which was recognized for its creativity.
Following their excellence award at the Busan-Gyeongnam regional competition, the team won the silver prize at the national competition, receiving the Korea Advertising Federation Chairman’s Award, a trophy, and a prize of 2 million KRW.
The “Advertising is the Future” team expressed, “We are very pleased to have achieved good results in a competition we participated in just before our 4th-year graduation,” adding, “We will become good advertisers who can contribute to society.”
Hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by the Korea Advertising Federation, the Korea Student Advertising Competition (KOSAC) boasts the largest scale among domestic advertising contests.
This year’s theme was “Regional Regeneration Strategies and Promotion Plans for Revitalizing Local Economic Culture.”
A total of 1,259 students from 93 universities nationwide (with 119 participating professors) submitted 340 works to compete.
Before the national KOSAC competition, the Department of Advertising and Public Relations at Dongmyung University produced five award-winning teams at the Busan-Gyeongnam regional competition.
Among the three teams selected as representatives of the Busan-Gyeongnam region, one team, three teams that passed the document screening among 11 teams in the Busan-Gyeongnam regional competition, and two teams among nine finalists showcased their skills.
