Gwangju Bank Hosts the 5th Gwangju Hwaru Contest
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Bank (President Song Jong-wook) announced on the 27th that it will hold the 5th Gwangju Hwaryu Contest.
Gwangju Bank's representative cultural project, the Korean Painting Contest 'Gwangju Hwaryu,' is the largest nationwide contest exclusively for Korean painting artists. Applications will be accepted through the Gwangju Hwaryu website starting next month on the 1st, and the final winners are scheduled to be announced in April next year.
This contest will select one Grand Prize winner, one Excellence Award winner, and three Merit Award winners through three stages: portfolio submission, artwork evaluation, and in-depth interviews.
The Grand Prize winner will receive a prize of 30 million KRW along with sponsorship for a solo exhibition or participation in an overseas residency program. The Excellence Award winner will receive 20 million KRW, and each Merit Award winner will receive 10 million KRW.
Additionally, from the final judging of the contest, 10 artists including the award winners will be selected to hold the '5th Gwangju Hwaryu Artists Exhibition' in June next year. This exhibition will be held jointly with the '4th Gwangju Hwaryu Artists Exhibition,' which was postponed due to social distancing measures related to COVID-19.
In particular, Gwangju Bank continues to show interest and support in the cultural field in accordance with the management philosophy of President Song Jong-wook, who pursues value beyond profit.
