3 Dead in Explosion Accident at POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks (Comprehensive)
[Asia Economy Reporter Park So-yeon] An explosion occurred at POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks, resulting in the deaths of three workers.
At 4:02 PM on the 24th, an explosion at POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks in Geumho-dong, Gwangyang-si, Jeollanam-do, caused three workers on site to die.
The Gwangyang Steelworks explained that while working at Blast Furnace No. 1, a crack in the oxygen pipe caused a strong oxygen leak, leading to an incident presumed to be a fire.
Although the fire was self-extinguished within about 20 minutes, two workers were found in cardiac arrest, and after two hours of search by firefighters, one more deceased worker was discovered.

The fire authorities believe the explosion occurred during the handling of high-pressure gas and are investigating the exact cause of the accident.
