[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] Maserati MC20 was announced on the 24th to have been selected as the winner in the Performance Model category at the '2021 China Car of the Year' awards held in Guangzhou, China on the 20th.
Selected as the winner in the Performance Model category, the Maserati MC20 is an iconic model that redefines the brand identity and heritage, showcasing the essence of Italian craftsmanship and excellent engineering from design to production. In particular, the V6 3.0ℓ 'Nettuno' engine, designed and developed by Maserati, applies pre-chamber technology derived from Formula One (F1) technology, reducing fuel consumption while increasing output.
Thanks to this, it boasts powerful performance with a maximum output of 630 horsepower, maximum torque of 74.4 Kg·m, 0-100 km/h acceleration in 2.9 seconds, and a top speed of 325 km/h. Additionally, by applying a carbon fiber chassis, the curb weight is only under 1500 kg, and it records a best-in-class power-to-weight ratio of 2.33 kg per horsepower, receiving excellent evaluations in terms of performance.
The MC20 is scheduled for its first delivery to customers globally starting this December, and it is expected to be launched domestically next year.
Meanwhile, the 'China Car of the Year' is a prestigious award based on principles of objectivity, reliability, and integrity for the continuous improvement and development of the automotive industry, which began in 2014.
