Gyeongnam Sancheong-gun Officially Advances Construction of 'Sancheong Welfare Town' for Children and Families
Installation of Facilities such as Toy Department Store and Joint Childcare Sharing Center
Total Project Cost of 5.1 Billion KRW Invested
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] In Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam, a social service space for children and families called ‘Sancheong Welfare Town,’ which includes a toy department store and a shared childcare center, will be constructed.
The county announced on the 24th that it will build ‘Sancheong Welfare Town’ on the site of the current Josan Park, located at 725 Oksan-ri, Sancheong-eup.
The Sancheong Welfare Town construction project was selected last October by the National Balanced Development Committee’s 2020 Living SOC Complex Project competition, with a total project cost of 5.1 billion KRW.
The county plans to start construction within this year and aims to complete it by December 2021. The facility will cover a total area of 2,240㎡ and consist of two above-ground floors.
The first floor will house a living culture center, a multipurpose family exchange and communication space, a shared childcare center, and a toy department store. The second floor will include a healthy family and multicultural family support center and a multipurpose auditorium.
A county official stated, “Once Sancheong Welfare Town is built, it will provide integrated welfare and cultural services for children and their families, creating a space where generations and neighbors can interact and communicate. We will ensure smooth project progress to become a healthy community that is good for raising children.”

The county expects that once the welfare town is established, it will serve as a space offering complex services such as family-based care projects, activation of local networks, and cultural events within the region.
