'2020 Yesul Gyeongyeong Week' December 1-4 at Dongdaemun Design Plaza
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] The '2020 Arts Management Week' will be held from December 1 to 4.
Arts Management Week is a platform for exchange among companies, organizations, and institutions in the cultural and arts sector. It is hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Arts Management Support Center, with sponsorship from the Surim Cultural Foundation. This year, a total of 107 companies will participate, conducting four business and management case presentation competitions and two forums. On-site judging will select 30 companies for awards, with a total prize money of 190 million KRW to be awarded.
Due to the resurgence of COVID-19 and the implementation of social distancing level 2 and stringent quarantine measures in the metropolitan area starting on the 24th, the event at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) Notification Hall 2 will limit participation to fewer than 100 people, including presenters and related personnel. Major events will be broadcast live online via Event-us (http://event-us.kr/kamsweek/event).
On the morning of the first day, December 1, the 'Social Performance and Compensation Forum' will discuss methods of social performance and compensation in the cultural and arts sector. In the afternoon, the 'Impact Investment IR' competition will be held, providing investment opportunities with venture capitalists (VCs). This event features 15 companies selected through preliminary screening from the social economy enterprise support project this year. Eight companies will be selected for awards and a total prize of 56 million KRW.
On the morning of December 2, the 'Cultural and Arts Public Market Forum' will share cases of arts companies attempting business transformation and challenging entry into the public market amid the COVID-19 crisis. In the afternoon, the 'Cultural Arts + Corporate Meeting Day' will offer 1:1 business meetings to facilitate cooperation opportunities with general (public) companies. A presentation competition for cultural arts company collaboration projects will be held targeting organizations such as Hankook Tire Sharing Foundation, Hana Tour Cultural Foundation, CJ CGV, Korea Airports Corporation, and the Korea Teachers' Credit Union. Four companies will be selected for awards and a total prize of 24 million KRW.
From 1 PM on December 3, the 'Investment IR' competition will be held featuring 18 companies participating in this year's arts sector business growth support project, selected through preliminary screening. Eight companies will be awarded a total prize of 60 million KRW based on evaluations by venture capitalists (VCs) and other experts. Additionally, an awards ceremony will be held for four winners of the '2020 Technology Utilization Performance and Exhibition Viewing Service Idea Contest,' decided through prior public submissions and screening, with a total prize of 20 million KRW.
On the afternoon of December 4, the 'Arts Management Awards' will be held to promote excellent cases in arts management. A total of 15 companies and institutions that passed document screening in each category of professional arts corporations and organizations designated under Article 7 of the Cultural Arts Promotion Act, as well as general cultural arts companies, will present their cases. Awards include four Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Awards, the Surim Cultural Foundation Chairman's Award, the Arts Management Support Center CEO Award, and a total of six awards with prize money totaling 30 million KRW.

During the event period, an online pop-up store will operate to sell over 70 types of art products developed by 25 companies participating in the 'Art Product Development and Distribution Support' project. The store, called 'Artist's Room' and 'Artist:Bang' (www.arts-in-bags.com, Arts in Bags), meaning 'putting art products in a bag,' will be open for purchases by anyone until December 21.
