The Dongui University (President Han Su-hwan) Social Service Center (Director Yoon Hyun-seo) announced on the 24th that the Student Council participated together, carrying out activities such as supporting the blood donation relay and volunteer work at the Blood Donation House, and providing Student Council souvenirs to participating students.
This blood donation relay, held in cooperation with the Korean Red Cross Busan Blood Center, was conducted to address the blood shortage caused by COVID-19 and to encourage students' special acts of sharing.
A total of 822 people participated in life-sharing blood donations, including 626 whole blood donors and 196 plasma donors.
Director Yoon Hyun-seo said, "We continuously practice sharing in the local community through various means including promoting residents' health and ensuring safety in daily life. Students and faculty members actively participate in blood donation for local residents who are irreplaceable and are facing difficulties due to unstable supply caused by COVID-19."
Dongui University was the first university in the Busan area to open a Blood Donation House and has held blood donation relay events every semester since the second semester of 1999.
Starting with the 1st Dongui Family Neighbor Love Blood Donation Relay in 1999, a total of 48,326 people have participated in life-sharing blood donations up to this relay event.
This year, Dongui University was selected as the top Life-Sharing School by the Korean Red Cross. On September 5th, the Korean Red Cross publicly announced the list of schools, organizations, and companies that shared life through group blood donations from August 1, 2019, to July 31, 2020, through major domestic daily newspapers.

During this period, 73,468 people from 403 life-sharing schools nationwide participated in blood donation in the school group, and Dongui University had 1,975 participants, ranking among the top four universities.
