[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongwook Park] Pohang City, Gyeongbuk announced on the 23rd that it has designated the entire 9.5 km stretch of the Hyeongsan River as a fishing prohibited area, and a 5.2 km section from the Pohang-Gyeongju boundary to under the Yeonildae Bridge, excluding the Hyeongsan River outdoor water play area (200 meters), as a camping and cooking prohibited area.
According to Pohang City, recently, fishing bait such as dough bait and fish meal has caused water pollution, and illegal dumping of trash generated after fishing, camping, and cooking has damaged the river scenery, pushing residents' patience to the limit.
The city plans to conduct publicity and guidance until the end of December, and then start full-scale enforcement from January next year. If caught, a fine of up to 3 million KRW will be imposed in accordance with Article 98, Paragraph 2 of the River Act and Article 107 of the Enforcement Decree of the same Act.

Lee Won-tak, head of Pohang City's Green City Project Group, stated, "We plan to install height restriction frames comprehensively to eradicate long-term illegal parking of large trucks, construction machinery, camping cars, and the like in this area."
