70th Anniversary of Korea-Spain Diplomatic Relations, Exploring Environmental Cooperation... KF to Host Korea-Spain Forum on the 25th
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Korea Foundation (KF) announced on the 23rd that it will jointly hold the 13th Korea-Spain Forum on the 25th via an online video conference with the Graduate School of International and Area Studies at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies and Casa Asia in Spain.
The forum will be attended by Lee Geun, Chairman of KF; Kim In-chul, President of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies; Choi Jong-geon, First Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs; and Jeon Hong-jo, Ambassador of Korea to Spain. On the Spanish side, key figures include Cristina Gallach, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Spain; Juan Ignacio Moro, Ambassador of Spain to Korea; Javier Perondo, Director of Casa Asia; and Laia Bonet, Deputy Mayor of Barcelona.
The first session of this forum, held to commemorate the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Spain, is titled "Re-evaluating 70 years of bilateral relations." Juan Ignacio Moro, Ambassador of Spain to Korea, who has maintained continuous ties with Korea for over 20 years, will serve as the presenter.
The second session's theme is "Cooperation between Korea and Spain in the post-coronavirus era." It will discuss the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, the role of cities, and bilateral cooperation in the environmental sector. Hong Jong-ho, a Green New Deal expert and professor at the Graduate School of Environmental Studies at Seoul National University, is scheduled to share the current status of Korea's Green New Deal initiatives, including energy transition projects and eco-friendly urban development.

Lee Geun, Chairman of KF, stated, "The common interest between the two countries after 70 years is the environment," adding, "Through this forum, by discovering new future-oriented agendas such as sustainable development and urban development, we expect the scope of Korea-Spain cooperation to expand significantly."
