The Miracle of Twins Born Two Years Apart... British Siblings Conceived by IVF
Five Embryos Created from One IVF Cycle on the Same Day
No Expiration Date for Embryos Due to Freezing Storage
Couple "Expecting at Least Quadruplets"
On the 23rd, news spread that a couple in the UK gave birth to twins of different ages, attracting attention.

On the 22nd (local time), local media such as Metro and The Sun reported that James Mark (35, male) and Karen (33, female), a couple living in Somerset, southwest England, gave birth to their daughter Isabella on September 15.
Daughter Isabella is a twin of their son Cameron, who was born on September 1, 2018. The two babies were conceived from embryos fertilized on the same day with the father's sperm and the mother's egg.
The two children, who are of different genders, look almost identical, possibly because they were born from embryos of the same parents.
The reason why 'twins' with different birthdays and ages can exist is thanks to the in vitro fertilization (IVF) procedure the couple underwent.
After struggling with pregnancy since their marriage in 2014, the couple finally received one chance for IVF through the National Health Service support in 2017.
Karen underwent IVF at the Bristol Reproductive Medicine Center and successfully created five embryos.
They implanted one of the five embryos into Karen's uterus, resulting in their son Cameron. The remaining fertilized embryos were stored in a frozen state.
In 2019, they implanted a second embryo but unfortunately experienced a miscarriage. Through the third implantation, they had Isabella last September.
Currently, two embryos remain. The couple plans to use all the remaining embryos soon.
Assuming they have children at two-year intervals, Cameron would be six years old when the last child is born, but it could be later.
This is because frozen embryos have no expiration date.
Karen said, "Having twins born two years apart feels incredible," adding, "We are happy just that the babies are healthy, but we ended up having both a son and a daughter," expressing her joy.
She continued, "After a long effort, we ended up with not one but two children," "People don't know that my son and daughter are twins. They are not identical twins, but since they were born from embryos created at the same time, they almost look like identical twins," she said.
She hopes to have at least four more children using the remaining two embryos.
She also considers the possibility that the two embryos might split into identical twins or triplets, potentially giving birth to six more children.
Karen never hesitates to tell people that her children are 'IVF babies.'
