Gwangju Office of Education Selected as Excellent Institution in Public Service Ethics System Operation Evaluation
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] The Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 22nd that it was selected as an excellent institution in the 2019 Public Service Ethics System Operation Evaluation conducted by the Ministry of Personnel Management.
The Ministry of Personnel Management conducted a written evaluation on 29 items across 10 areas, including asset registration, disclosure, review, gift reporting system, and employment and conduct restrictions for retired public officials, targeting 260 institutions nationwide, including metropolitan and basic local governments and city/provincial offices of education, to ensure the appropriateness of the public service ethics system operation and to discover and spread system improvements and best practices.
In this evaluation, six institutions including the Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education, Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, and Sejong City were selected as excellent institutions.
In particular, the Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education established an early reporting system by encouraging timely submission of reports through self-education for asset registrants every year.
It was highly evaluated for selecting all asset registrants as subjects for asset review and conducting 100% asset reviews.

Inspector Bae Min of the City Office of Education said, “This award is significant as our Office of Education was evaluated as an excellent institution with a well-established overall public service ethics system, including the operation of the Public Service Ethics Committee,” and added, “We will strive to become an Office of Education more trusted by citizens based on a clean ethics system.”
