Lamborghini Unveils Huracan STO with '0-100 km/h in 3 Seconds' for the First Time
Maximum Output 640 Horsepower, Maximum Torque 57.7 kg·m
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] Automobili Lamborghini unveiled the super sports car 'Hurac?n STO,' which integrates motorsport know-how, aerodynamic characteristics, and lightweight technology, for the first time worldwide on the 20th.
The 'STO' in Hurac?n STO stands for Super Trofeo Omologata, a super sports car designed for road use inspired by the racing heritage of motorsport cars. It is drivable on regular roads but carries the thrill of a race car. Its strengths include excellent aerodynamic efficiency, extensive use of lightweight materials, and top-tier braking performance.
The naturally aspirated V10 engine of the Hurac?n STO delivers a maximum output of 640 horsepower and a peak torque of 57.7 kg·m. Thanks to lightweight technology, the power-to-weight ratio reaches 2.09 kg/hp. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3 seconds and to 200 km/h in 9 seconds. The braking distance from 100 km/h to a complete stop is only 30 meters. The top speed is 310 km/h.
Focusing on high-performance driving environments, the three new driving modes?STO, Trofeo, and Pioggia?demonstrate the racing spirit of the Hurac?n STO. The default STO mode offers the best enjoyment on winding regular roads, the Trofeo mode is optimized for achieving top speeds on dry asphalt surfaces and tracks, and the Pioggia mode controls traction, torque vectoring, rear-wheel steering, and ABS functions tailored for wet asphalt conditions.
The Hurac?n STO secures class-leading downforce with optimal aerodynamic balance. This creates exceptional aerodynamic load, serving as a key factor in enhanced cornering performance. Compared to the Hurac?n Performante, overall airflow efficiency has improved by 37%, and downforce has increased by 53%. More than 75% of the Hurac?n STO's exterior panels are made of carbon fiber.
Additionally, the rear fenders incorporate the aerospace industry's carbon fiber 'sandwich' technique. Through this technology, the Hurac?n STO reduces carbon fiber material usage by 25% while maintaining the same level of structural rigidity. With a dry weight of 1,339 kg, the Hurac?n STO is 43 kg lighter than the Hurac?n Performante.
The exterior design has been optimized for airflow. Mitja Borkert, Head of Lamborghini Centro Stile (Design Center), stated, "Race cars have always been a strong inspiration for our designs," adding, "The Hurac?n STO is a model that meticulously reflects the technology inherited from the successful Hurac?n race cars and embodies every aesthetic detail."
