Jin Joong-kwon: "President Moon only listens to 'Ddaekae-moon', not the people... Choo seems mentally absent"

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Former Dongyang University professor Jin Joong-kwon sharply criticized President Moon Jae-in and the Democratic Party of Korea on the 20th, saying, "The president should represent the entire nation, but President Moon only represents 'Daekkaemun (literally 'even if the head is broken, Moon Jae-in')," and added, "Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae is performing a sword dance, but the president is absent."
On the same day, at a lecture titled "The Era of Post-Truth" held by the 'National Future Forum,' a joint research group of lawmakers from the People Power Party and the People Party, Jin said, "This is the situation of the Nazis in 1930. The public easily believes lies," and added, "Although not in a strong form, it can be seen as a form of soft fascism. This is a global phenomenon, not just in our country. Trumpism in the United States is appearing within the Democratic Party."
Jin pointed out, "What has changed from the past is that politicians used to apologize and pretend to reflect when they made mistakes. These people create an alternative world where they are not wrong and try to relocate the people," and continued, "In the past, facts were acknowledged and the fight was over interpretation, but now it has become a strange situation where we have to fight over the facts themselves." He further analyzed the current situation, saying, "A very favorable situation has arisen for politicians. (In the past) if they lied, they were not believed, but (now) people want to believe. The public is ready to accept fake as real. That's why the Democratic Party is excited."
Regarding the centrist group, Jin said, "There used to be a centrist group. Elections were about attracting them with universal messages, but now they give up on the centrists," and criticized, "They use a strategy of rallying their supporters with lies rather than persuading the centrists with facts. This is what U.S. President Donald Trump and the Moon Jae-in administration use."
Jin advised the opposition party to create an 'alternative frame.' He said, "The reason conservatism is failing is because there is no frame. To become an alternative, you must prove that you have governing capability and establish an alternative frame," and added, "If the centrists and conservatives unite, many people will vote for them. The public is ready to rush to an alternative if it exists and is at a tipping point." He then criticized, "They just throw things around recklessly," and said, "Minister Choo is originally a scatterbrained person, but it seems she has completely run away."

In response to complaints that "even if alternatives are presented, they are useless," Jin retorted, "As far as I know, the opposition party does not present alternatives. How do you know they are useless?" and pointed out, "They can afford to only look at their supporters, but you are not the mainstream. That cannot happen. You need to set up a front at the Han River, but can you succeed by setting it up at the Nakdong River?"
