Seongbuk-gu Resident Autonomy Academy Education Receives Positive Response
Conducted Various Topics Such as Practical Understanding and Leadership Development for Resident Autonomy Committee Members
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) conducted a Residents' Autonomy Academy twice on the 6th and 12th to strengthen residents' autonomy capabilities following the expansion of Seoul-type Residents' Autonomy Committees to all neighborhoods.
This training aimed to enhance practical skills for Residents' Autonomy Committees, with about 80 committee members responsible for practical work such as secretaries, general affairs, and auditors attending. The sessions included lectures and workshops on ▲understanding the structure and execution of the Residents' Autonomy Committee budget ▲understanding Residents' Autonomy Committee projects and how to write project plans, receiving great responses from the committee members.
Residents' Autonomy Committee members who participated in the training evaluated, "The practical training essential for establishing and executing residents' autonomy plans was very helpful."
Seongbuk-gu has been a region operating Seoul-type Residents' Autonomy Committees for four years and took responsibility as an autonomous district that implemented the first phase pilot project in 2017, continuing democratic and transparent operation of the Residents' Autonomy Committees.
An official from the district stated, "In the era of decentralized autonomy, the Residents' Autonomy Committee as a resident-centered local autonomy body is seeking various support measures from the district to establish itself as a genuine resident representative organization."
