Governor Kim Kyung-soo Visits National Assembly to Emphasize Necessity of Securing Next Year's National Budget

This move follows the activation of the Budget Adjustment Subcommittee of the National Assembly's Special Committee on Budget and Accounts, which is set to conduct a full review of next year's government budget.
On the morning of the 19th, Governor Kim visited the National Assembly and met with Jeong Seong-ho, Chairman of the Budget Committee, Chu Kyung-ho, the floor leader, and committee members Park Jae-ho and Cho Hae-jin.
He then met sequentially with the ruling party leadership, including Lee Nak-yeon, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, Kim Tae-nyeon, floor leader, Han Jeong-ae, chair of the Policy Committee, and Park Kwang-on, secretary general, to emphasize the necessity of securing national funds.
Governor Kim stated, “To resolve the drawbacks of concentration in the metropolitan area and to achieve flexible regional balanced development, the prerequisite task of expanding the metropolitan transportation network must be addressed,” adding, “It is also necessary to establish a hub city in Gyeongnam that can foster a representative tourism city.”
In the afternoon, Governor Kim met with Ahn Il-hwan, Second Vice Minister of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and Ahn Do-gul, Director of the Budget Office, to explain the need for establishing regional metropolitan transportation networks and requested that national funds be allocated for the introduction of the electric train between Bujeon and Masan.
Meanwhile, the 2021 government budget proposal, submitted to the National Assembly on September 3, amounts to 555.8 trillion won, an 8.5% increase from last year. The National Assembly has been conducting preliminary reviews through standing committees since the end of October and has been carrying out comprehensive reviews by the Budget Adjustment Subcommittee since the 16th.
