Korea and New Zealand Cooperate on New Technologies Including AI, Health, and Medical Fields
[Asia Economy Reporter Junho Hwang] South Korea and New Zealand will jointly conduct research in biomimetic technology, robotic biomimetic technology, and augmented reality. They will also collaborate on the development of high-performance new alloy surface treatment technology. The Ministry of Science and ICT announced this on the 20th following the 5th Korea-New Zealand Science and Technology Joint Committee meeting held via video conference.
The two countries held their fifth joint committee meeting this year. At this meeting, they reviewed the outcomes of their ongoing joint research and discussed cooperation strategies in science and technology, including selecting new joint research fields such as artificial intelligence and health and medical sectors.
Starting next year, they plan to exchange information on New Zealand's excellent smart farm operations and discuss cooperation plans to develop advanced smart farm technologies by integrating Korea's robotics, artificial intelligence, and communication technologies, which New Zealand hopes to collaborate on, to maximize synergy. Furthermore, the Auckland BioResearch Institute in New Zealand, which is currently expanding its investment in the health and medical technology sector, agreed to pursue joint research with Korea in biomimetic technology, robotic medical devices, and augmented reality, areas with high potential for collaboration. They also agreed to mutually cooperate on developing high-performance new alloy surface treatment technology to lighten and enhance the design of mobile phone frames and improve the durability and surface characteristics of meat trimming tools.
