Jeju Police Take Strict Action Against 'Drunken Violence'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters (Jeju) Reporter Hwang Jeong-pil] The Jeju Provincial Police Agency held an on-site meeting to eradicate drunken violence and decided to respond strictly.
According to Jeju Police on the 18th, by the end of last month, they arrested 110 habitual offenders of drunken violence and other neighborhood violence, who committed 424 cases of illegal acts against local residents and merchants, and detained 39 people.
By type, there were 221 cases of dine-and-dash, 110 cases of obstruction of business, 78 cases of violence, 8 cases of property damage, 3 cases of threats, and 4 cases of others (causing anxiety).
From the 3rd to the 5th, each police station held on-site meetings with police chiefs, detectives, and public safety officials visiting major traditional markets and merchant associations together.
Through this, they announced their firm intention to crack down on drunken violence and informed about the reporter protection system, urging active reporting.
Afterwards, they conducted patrol activities called ‘Walking Around the Neighborhood’ with citizens to examine crime-vulnerable factors together and intensified publicity by distributing self-produced promotional leaflets.
