Lee Nak-yeon Appoints 24 'Special Advisors' "Tasked with Bridging Communication Blind Spots"
[Asia Economy Reporter Wondara] Lee Nak-yeon, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, appointed a special advisory group of 24 party representatives.
At the launch ceremony of the advisory group held at the National Assembly on the morning of the 18th, Lee said, "No matter how hard we communicate, there will inevitably be blind spots," and added, "I especially ask you to find and fill those gaps."
He continued, "There have been special advisors in every leader's term. It is not only me who appoints special advisors," emphasizing, "Rather than a relationship that simply helps the leader, what is more needed is the role of communication, connection, and channeling between the leader and each field."
The advisory group is led by Representative Lee Gae-ho, and includes five-term Representative Seol Hoon, as well as Park Wan-joo, Kim Cheol-min, Jeon Hye-sook, Yoo Dong-soo, Song Gap-seok, Lee Won-taek, Kim Han-jung, Kim Ju-young, Yoo Dong-soo, Park Young-soon, Kang Jun-hyun, Lee Jang-seop, Lee Hyung-seok, Seo Sam-seok, and Shin Young-dae. By their constituencies, there is 1 from Seoul, 4 from Gyeonggi, 1 from Incheon, 4 from Chungcheong, and 6 from Honam.
Among the non-parliamentary figures are former Representative Shim Ki-jun, Park Sung-hyun, chairman of Busan Dongnae District, Yoon Jun-ho, chairman of Busan Haeundae District Eul, Jo Gi-seok, former chairman of Daegu City Party, Shim Gyu-myeong, chairman of Ulsan Nam-gu Gap, Moon Sang-mo, chairman of Gyeongnam Geoje City, Lee Jeong-geun, chairman of Seoul Seocho Gap, and in the youth sector, Shin Jeong-hyun, chairman of Gyeonggi Province.
Right after the launch ceremony, Lee Gae-ho, the head of the group, told reporters in response to the question "Did the party leader give any special instructions?" that "He asked us to serve well as advisors to the party leader, to provide opinions by region and job, and to help expand the party's outreach."
Regarding future plans, he said, "The special advisors will regularly gather to broadly collect opinions from regions, public opinion, and various fields and professions representing the leader, and we will strive to reflect those opinions in the party and government," adding, "We plan to hold regular meetings about once a month."

When asked about the criteria for forming the advisory group, he said, "We appointed special advisors who can politically advise Lee Nak-yeon while expanding the party's outreach and support base," and added, "We paid attention to balancing by region, generation, and job when appointing them."
