Bucheon-si Supports Outpatient Mental Health Treatment Costs for Youth... Up to 360,000 KRW
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Bucheon City in Gyeonggi Province is providing outpatient treatment expenses to promote the mental health of young people.
The city announced on the 17th that it is implementing the 'Youth Mind Care' project, which supports outpatient treatment expenses to encourage intensive treatment in the early stages of onset and to ensure timely, appropriate, and continuous treatment.
The support targets young people aged 19 to 34 who have a residence in Bucheon City and were first diagnosed within the past five years with disease codes P20~29 or P30~39.
The support covers the patient's co-payment portion of treatment fees, examination fees, medication costs, and certification fees incurred from outpatient psychiatric treatment starting January of this year. The maximum support amount per person is up to 360,000 KRW annually.
After outpatient treatment at a hospital, applicants prepare the required documents and submit them to the Bucheon City Mental Health Welfare Center, where the documents are reviewed and treatment expenses are supported.

A Bucheon City official stated, "Youth is a period of significant psychological changes and pressures due to new environments such as studies, employment, military service, marriage, and the future," adding, "However, not many young people use psychiatric treatment, psychological counseling, or mental health services during this time, so we decided to support outpatient treatment expenses to enable appropriate treatment."
