According to Gwangju Metropolitan City on the 16th, a total of 6 new confirmed cases were identified, including 5 related to Jeonnam National University Hospital and 1 with an unclear infection route, classified as Gwangju cases 561 to 566.
With these additional confirmed cases, the total number of cases related to Jeonnam National University Hospital has increased to 14.
So far, there are 4 doctors, 2 nurses, 1 radiologist, 2 patients, 2 caregivers, 2 employees of companies located within the hospital, and 1 acquaintance infection.
Cases 561 and 562 reside in Pungam-dong, Seo-gu, and Yongbong-dong, Buk-gu, respectively, and are both employees of companies located within Jeonnam National University Hospital.
Case 563, residing in Yongbong-dong, Buk-gu, is a medical staff member at Jeonnam National University Hospital.
Case 564 is a resident of Yeonggwang-gun, Jeonnam, and a caregiver of a hospitalized patient, while case 565, a resident of Yongbong-dong, Buk-gu, is known to be an acquaintance of case 562.
Case 566 resides in Duam-dong, Buk-gu, and the infection route is currently under investigation.
Meanwhile, since case 546 (a neurosurgery resident) was confirmed positive on the 13th at Jeonnam National University Hospital, confirmed cases have been steadily emerging.
On the 14th, 4 cases; on the 15th, 3 cases; and as of the 16th, 5 cases have been confirmed.
So far, 4,776 people have been tested, with 14 confirmed positive and 1,543 awaiting test results.
A total of 497 people, including 36 doctors, 121 nurses, 171 patients, and 125 caregivers, have been placed under self-quarantine.
The closure of outpatient areas and the emergency room at Jeonnam National University Hospital has been extended until tomorrow, and cohort isolation is in place on the 6th floor (neurosurgery ward) and 11th floor (infectious diseases ward) of Building 1.
