Samsung Electronics Surpasses 1 Million Global Dishwasher Sales This Year

A Samsung Electronics model is introducing the 'Bespoke Dishwasher' with differentiated cleaning performance and design innovation at the Suwon Samsung Electronics Digital City Premium House.

The company experienced significant growth in major markets such as the United States and Europe through an expanded lineup optimized for each market and differentiated product capabilities.
Samsung Electronics received particularly favorable reviews overseas for its ‘Linear Wash,’ where bars spraying high-pressure water reflect water upwards to clean every corner, and the ‘Zone Booster,’ which additionally sprays water to thoroughly clean dishes placed on the bottom rack. The rotating water spray ‘Storm Wash,’ which powerfully cleans heavily greasy dishes without pre-washing, and the automatic door opening feature also gained popularity.
Samsung dishwashers were ranked first in the ‘2020 Home Appliance Consumer Satisfaction Evaluation’ announced by JD Power, a U.S.-based market research firm. In Europe, alongside refrigerators that hold the top local market share, the proportion of kitchen appliances such as ovens, induction cooktops, and dishwashers sold as packages is increasing, leading to a rise in dishwasher sales.
In Korea, following refrigerators, Samsung has introduced the ‘Bespoke Dishwasher,’ which allows panel customization according to personal preferences, showing rapid growth.
The Bespoke Dishwasher offers a total of nine different color options and features optimized functions for Korean dining culture along with powerful cleaning performance, which are key factors driving purchases.
It is characterized by being the first in Korea to apply a four-tier washing arm and a bottom 720-degree washing arm that rotates bidirectionally, tailored to Korean eating habits that involve many deep bowls used for rice and soup.
Other popular features include sterilization washing that removes 99.999% of harmful bacteria and viruses with 75-degree Celsius hot water, a dual micro-filter that removes rust and impurities from water pipes, an ‘automatic door opening drying’ function that opens the door automatically after washing, and a luxurious multi-purpose basket made of metal material that enhances drying performance.
Since launching the new Bespoke Dishwasher model in June, Samsung Electronics reported that domestic dishwasher sales in the third quarter of this year increased about fourfold compared to the same period last year. Considering that the domestic dishwasher penetration rate is in the low teens percentage-wise, this is a noteworthy achievement.
