Boseong-gun Provides Free Masks to All Residents for COVID-19 Prevention
[Boseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do, will provide free masks to all residents to prevent COVID-19.
According to Boseong-gun on the 13th, the county established a plan to distribute masks free of charge since last summer as a preemptive measure to prevent the simultaneous spread of COVID-19 and influenza during the winter and to protect the health of residents. They secured nearly 400 million KRW in the main budget and supplementary budgets for masks.
Accordingly, a total of 530,000 masks will be distributed free of charge to all residents, including students, infants, and vulnerable groups. Distribution is scheduled to be carried out through the town and township offices to each household around the 1st of next month.
Emergency masks will also be placed in multi-use facilities, including nine types of priority management facilities and fourteen types of general management facilities. This is a measure to minimize confusion among residents and tourists regarding the mandatory mask-wearing policy.
County Governor Kim Cheol-woo said, “We are making every effort to prevent COVID-19 and protect the health of our residents,” adding, “Since vaccines and treatments are not yet available, wearing masks is the best preventive measure. Although it may be inconvenient, please wear masks properly for your health and the health of your neighbors, and comply with quarantine rules.”
Meanwhile, as a preemptive COVID-19 prevention measure, Boseong-gun has been providing free influenza vaccinations to all residents since last month. In February, when the COVID-19 outbreak began, free KF masks were distributed to all residents, and in March, when the mask shortage occurred, the county became the first in the nation to distribute self-made cloth masks free of charge to all residents.
