Yoo In-tae on Conflict Between Choo and Yoon: "This Situation Burdens the President... Personnel Measures Needed"
"People Are Getting Annoyed"
"Yoon Seok-yeol, Too Stubborn... Won't Do Politics"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] Yoo In-tae, former Secretary General of the National Assembly and an original pro-Roh Moo-hyun (Pro-Roh) figure, called for President Moon Jae-in's decisive action on the personnel measures regarding the conflict between Justice Minister Chu Mi-ae and Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-youl on the 13th, stating, "Personnel measures are necessary for both individuals."
Yoo appeared on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' that day and said, "Leaving it as it is would be too burdensome for the president."
When asked by the host whether personnel measures should be taken against one or both of Chu and Yoon, he replied, "It has become quite ambiguous to take action against only one side," adding, "Aren't the people getting very frustrated?" He further said, "Since these two stubborn people are clashing, no one can stop them," and added, "(My stubbornness) does not compare to those two heavyweights."
Yoo has continuously criticized not only Prosecutor General Yoon but also Justice Minister Chu's words and actions. Previously, he criticized Chu's 'coming out remark,' saying, "It is frivolous for the minister to post such things on social network services (SNS) just because some junior prosecutors slightly opposed her." Notably, as a senior figure known as an original Pro-Roh, Yoo mentioning 'personnel measures' against Minister Chu this time is expected to cause considerable ripples within the ruling party.
Regarding the recent 'Yoon Seok-youl syndrome,' Yoo analyzed it as a temporary phenomenon. He explained, "Our politics has long been a target of public disgust and deep distrust, so such phenomena have always existed," adding, "Ten years ago, Ahn Cheol-soo, Ko Gun, Ban Ki-moon, and others were all phenomena. It is unfortunate that in this arena, one must not be involved to rise."
He also said, "I believe Prosecutor General Yoon will not enter politics," and added, "Originally, Yoon is a very stubborn person. Even when he was ousted during the previous administration, he did not bend his principles. Stubborn people are inherently unsuited for politics."

Yoo also gave a veiled critical evaluation of Minister Chu, saying, "She is stubborn," and explained, "That person (Minister Chu) was stubborn when she locked the doors on her party members during the sole passage of the labor law (in 2009 as Chair of the Environment and Labor Committee in the National Assembly)." He said, "Since the two of them are clashing with their stubbornness, no one can stop them."
