Steel Association Steel SC Holds Employment Briefing and Special Lecture for University Students in the Steel Sector
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] The Korea Iron & Steel Association's Human Resources Development Council for the Steel Industry (Steel SC) held a steel industry employment briefing and special lecture for about 70 university students nationwide who are expected to seek employment on the 13th at the HJ Convention Center in Busan.
This camp hosted by Steel SC is the third event held this year with the support of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology, designed to support the entry of excellent talent into the steel industry. About 70 students from 11 universities nationwide, including Pusan National University, Dong-A University, Ulsan University, Yeungnam University, and Chungnam National University, attended the event.
HR representatives from three companies?POSCO, Hyundai Steel, and Dongkuk Steel?participated to provide an opportunity to learn about company-specific hiring trends affected by COVID-19 and corporate employment strategies through employment briefings and Q&A sessions. Additionally, the special lecture covered essential topics such as writing self-introduction letters and interview techniques required in the hiring process, with practical exercises to prepare participants for real situations.
An official from the Steel Association stated, "The future of the domestic steel industry is bright because of passionate university students aspiring to become future steel professionals, and the Steel Association will provide unwavering support to help university students enter the steel industry."
Steel SC is promoting various projects to create youth jobs, including employment briefings and special lectures for university students preparing for employment, steel industry job-specific lectures to raise interest among lower-grade university students, operation of university student metal study groups, and the Steel University Challenge, a virtual steel process simulation competition.

The Human Resources Development Council for the Steel Industry (Steel SC) was established to systematically identify industry manpower demands and smoothly supply customized personnel to promote industrial development. It has been operating since 2005 with a secretariat within the Korea Iron & Steel Association.
